Standards of Professional Conduct
Standards of ethics and integrity are the foundation of the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.® (AAPS), the governing body the American Board of Physician Specialties® (ABPS). The affiliated organizations are committed to principles of proper governance and ethical practice.
As one of the nation’s three largest recognized, multi-specialty certifying bodies, ABPS is committed to rigorous standards that value patient care and safety foremost by requiring physician Diplomates to attain a level of ethics and standards of professional conduct within their practice of medicine.
This commitment is indisputably demonstrated due the fact that ABPS is the only multi-certifying organization to require the completion of a one day non-remedial medical ethics course for recertification. For AAPS and ABPS Medical Ethics information, please view http://www.abpsus.org/ethics
Each physician Diplomate, is also required to pledge and abide by the organization’s code of ethics, in order to maintain AAPS membership and ABPS certification. For AAPS Code of Ethics, please view http://www.aapsus.org/code-of-ethics
AAPS and ABPS leaders (including Member Boards) are required sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to further demonstrate their responsibility regarding the standards of professional conduct.
