Tampa, FL – The American Academy of Disaster Medicine© (AADM©) is issuing a final nominations call for the 2013 Distinguished Service Award which honors deserving individuals, organizations and communities positively affecting public health care in the disaster life-cycle preparation, planning, response and recovery.
The April 30 deadline for submissions is rapidly approaching. Nomination details are available at https://www.aapsus.org/american-academy-disaster-medicine/aadm-award-nomination. Recipient(s) will be announced June 25, 2013 in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the American Association of Physician Specialists House of Delegates and Annual Scientific Meeting. Individuals, organizations or communities making a positive difference in emergency preparedness and disaster health care response are eligible.
According to Geoffrey Simmons, MD, an internist from Eugene, OR, “The American Academy of Disaster Medicine promotes the importance and practice of disaster health care, ensuring that all physicians are aware and prepared to effectively respond to disasters either natural or
man-made.” Dr. Simmons is the current AADM president.
