The ABPS Online Career Center is a Valuable Resource for Physician Recruiters

ABPS Career Center RecruitersAt the American Board of Physician Specialties® (ABPS), we have long been committed to helping our Diplomates remain abreast of exciting job opportunities. One way in which we do this is by actively matching ABPS Diplomates with medical recruiters from across the United States who recognize the prestige of ABPS board certification. If you are a recruiter in the medical field and have a job opening that you would like to advertise to highly-qualified medical specialists, then be sure to have it listed in the ABPS Online Career Center. Opportunities are listed in the Career Center free of charge and are also distributed to ABPS Diplomates via e-mail in our electronic Career Bulletin. Listings are broken down by medical specialty and searchable by state. Click here to visit the Career Center and search the current listings.

The ABPS – the official certifying body of the American Association of Physician Specialties, Inc. (AAPS) – represents an increasingly popular choice for medical specialists who are seeking to become board certified. Though certification isn’t a requirement for practicing medicine, an ever-growing number of highly experienced M.D.s and D.O.s are becoming board certified as a means of advancing their careers and demonstrating their expertise to the public. The physician specialist who chooses to become board certified through the ABPS understands that our organization is one of the preeminent multi-specialty physician board certification bodies in the United States – the other two being the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Osteopathic Association’s Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists (AOABOS). A deciding factor for many of those wishing to achieve ABPS Diplomate status is our deep-seated commitment to enhancing patient care by being an inclusive organization that encourages member participation in internal affairs. Our growing community of Diplomates is characterized by active interconnectedness and a spirit of sharing that engenders the diffusion of medical knowledge and the adoption of medical best practices. Hiring an ABPS Diplomate means more than hiring a physician specialist. It means hiring an extensively well qualified medical expert who takes proactive measures to move the profession forward. The rigorous hurdles that must be cleared in order for a physician specialist to become an ABPS Diplomate represent our belief that certification should only be obtained by the most clinically skilled and ethically scrupulous physicians around.

For additional information about the ABPS and the qualifications a physician must have to join the ranks of our organization as a Diplomate, please contact us today. We also cordially invite physician recruiters to e-mail us at or call (813) 433-2277 with questions about the ABPS Online Career Center and the process for becoming an advertiser. Since 1960, the ABPS has been a favored choice for board certification for allopathic and osteopathic doctors in a range of medical specialties and subspecialties.

To be the best, you must measure yourself against the best. Achieving Board Certification in Emergency Medicine by the ABPS gave me the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the art of EM in an objective way. The high bar that ABPS sets for candidates to be allowed to take both the written and oral exam is a testament to ABPS's rigorous vetting of one's ability to practice Emergency Medicine at a high level. By maintaining these credentials, I've been able to instill confidence in my abilities at the department/employer level and ultimately with the patients that choose to seek emergency care at the facilities at which I practice.

The American Board of Physician Specialties has supported the entire field of Integrative Medicine in sponsoring our board. It has been so validating of the importance of prevention-oriented and holistic approaches to care while emphasizing the scientific basis of this specialty to have it recognized by ABPS. I am proud to have been one of the first groups to be board certified by ABPS in Integrative Medicine, leading the way for others committed to training in this specialty.
