About: Oak Bend Medical Center (OBMC) in Richmond, TX:
OBMC is the only independent health system in Texas; located in an outer suburb of southwest Houston and comprised of three hospitals. Schedule between the two hospital ERs in Richmond: Jackson Street Campus and Williams Way Campus. ED group cross credential physicians to extend greater scheduling flexibility.
Two ED Practice Descriptions:
OBMC Jackson Street Campus (1st. of 2 ERs)
Emergency Department:
- 16,500 Patients per year
- 45 patients per day (2 Pts./hour) – 15% admissions rate
- 16-bed ED
- APP Coverage 56 hours/week (Noon to 8PM)
- 24-hour physician coverage; shifts 7A-7P; 7P-7A
- Hospitalist station is convenient adjacent to the ER.
Hospital Information:
- 120-Bed Hospital
- Full labs on site; Xray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, US, POCUS
- EMR Paragon (formerly AllScripts); Dictation – Dragon
OBMC Williams Way Campus (2nd of 2 ERs)
Emergency Department:
- 11,300 patients per year
- 31 patients per day (1.8 Pts./hour); 15% admissions rate
- 8 bed ED
- Single physician coverage – shifts: 7A -7P; 7P-7A
Hospital:
- 57 Bed Hospital
- Full lab on site; XRAY, CT, US, POCUS
- EMR Paragon (formerly AllScripts); Dictation – Dragon
- OB/woman’s services focus, physician backup readily available in-house
Required Qualifications:
- BC/BE Emergency Medicine trained physician
- BC/BE Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with recent one year of post-grad hospital ER experience
- Texas medical license (or ability to obtain) and DEA
- ACLS, ATLS, PALS
Compensation: (1099 or W2 option)
- 1099: $255- $260/hr. Includes $20/hr. QSP incentive
- W2: $230 – $2355/hr. Includes $20/hr. QSP incentive plus FT include $5000/year BERA Expense reimbursement
- Liability Insurance Protection: Procured by IES (for 1099 or W2) through Medical Protective of Ft. Wayne, IN. An occurrence-based policy requires no tail coverage.
