The following is the 2020 tiered pricing for the application and written examination fees for initial certification in Integrative Medicine.
The application fees vary based on the date the complete application is received by ABPS.
ABPS recently moved to an online application system supported by Aperture Credentialing, LLC. ABPS will invoice the amount due and send it via email after you have successfully submitted the online application. The application fee must be paid in full before your application can be processed. Failure to submit a complete application by the final deadline will delay the Board’s review of your application materials, and consequently preclude you from taking the exam in this administration window.
The application fee is non-refundable.
Written Examination Dates and Fees
The American Board of Physician Specialties uses computer-based testing administration for all written examinations. Our Integrative Medicine exams are offered at a network of testing centers throughout the U.S. and Canada and are given during a three-week period in May of each year. The May 2020 testing period runs from May 1 through May 21.
Registration forms will be mailed to approved candidates in February for the May exams. Once registered, candidates can then select the time, date, and testing location that is most convenient for their schedule, which may include evening or weekend hours at select centers.

Candidates are permitted to take the written examination as many as three times in order to pass.
The retake fee for initial certification written exams is $800.
If paying by check or money order, please make payable to ABPS. If paying by credit card, ABPS accepts American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.
Candidates for Written and Oral or Simulation examinations are responsible for arranging and direct remittance of all related travel and hotel accommodations and expenses. ABPS will not be held responsible for expenses incurred beyond the cost of the exam, including but not limited to travel expenses and lost wages.
Certification Management Fee (CMF)
Once certified, all ABPS Diplomates are required to remit a Certification Management Fee (CMF) beginning with the first annual billing cycle after certifying. The CMF is an annual fee that supports the management and governance of the ABPS certification and recertification programs. The fee also supports day-to-day operations of each specialty board, including maintenance of certification standards, board administration, advocacy and brand awareness. Additionally, the CMF defrays the cost to advise and attest to a physician’s board certification status with hospitals and managed care organizations. The 2019 CMF for Integrative Medicine diplomates is $595.
