Emergency Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Physician with/without Medical Director interest to join our small, independent Emergency Medicine group. Our team staffs the Monadnock Community Hospital Emergency Department, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) that provides comprehensive care, including inpatient, outpatient, 24-hour staffed emergency care, ambulatory care, and select specialty services. The Emergency Department features 12 beds and serves approximately 13,500 patients annually. Located in historic Peterborough in the wooded Monadnock region, with hiking, skiing and kayaking nearby, less than 1 hour from Manchester airport, equidistant drive (1.5 hours) to the White Mountains, to Boston or to the Atlantic Coast, our hospital offers an ideal balance of rural charm and access to urban and recreational amenities.

Position Overview

  • Role: Part-time (7-9 shifts/mo) to Full-time (10-12 shifts/mo) Emergency Physician.
  • Group: Small, independent, and democratically run Emergency Medicine group.
  • Location: Rural setting with proximity to urban centers and outdoor activities.
  • Qualifications: Board-certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM, AOBEM or BCEM/ABPS), or Internal Medicine/Family Practice (IM/FP) with relevant emergency medicine experience.
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts (8A-8P/8P-8A) with 12-hour mid-level provider coverage (10A-10P). Flexible scheduling with options for primarily day, night, or mixed shifts based on preference.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Seeking a Medical Director. Additionally, hospital committees (Med Exec, QI, P&T, credentialing).
  • Partnership: Become a vested partner within 1 year.

On October 18, 2007, President George W. Bush released Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21 (HSPD-21), calling on our nation, among other initiatives, to “collectively support and facilitate the establishment of a discipline of disaster health”. Far too often, medicine is led by less than 5% of non-practicing physicians taking away and replacing the voice of the 95% of physicians practicing and placing patient safety and care first on the front lines every day. The American Board of Physician Specialties has raised the standards in physician board certification not only in the quality of their boards of certification, but in hearing and allowing for the voice of those active physicians caring directly for patients. Having been a part of the ABPS over the last 28 years has allowed me to grow as a woman leader in a field often wrought with challenges. It helped me and others raise the bar of the standards of care in my specialty, Emergency Medicine, through their Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (BCEM).
