Part-time or Full-time Emergency Medicine Physician Coverage in Colorado

Western Healthcare is looking for EM Physicians interested in joining their dedicated team at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado!

They have flexible prn, consistent part-time as well as full-time positions available!

You have the option of either working on a flexible month-to-month type schedule or the stability of a longer-term, 6month, 12month or longer contracted agreement.

ED Volume: 7,000 annual visits. ED Duties only.

  • Daily Coverage: 24hr Single Physician Coverage (12hr or 24hr shifts).
  • Work-Loads: Avg around .8 patients per hour.
  • EMR: CPSI.
  • 25 Bed Hospital.
  • 7 Bed ED.
  • Credentialing: Can be quick, someone with a clean file can get temps in as little as 2-4 weeks.
  • We provide competitive pay rates as 1099, direct deposit, consistent or flexible scheduling options & full med-mal insurance with tail.
  • Specialty Backup: Anesthesiology; Cardiology; CT; General Surgery; Gynecology; Internal Medicine; Psychiatry; Radiology. Acute Inpatient Hospital Care.

Additional Information: Today’s campus includes 25 private patient rooms, 4 family birthing rooms, an outpatient sleep study laboratory, a special care unit, a chapel, a healing garden, a visitors’ welcome center, a gift shop, state-of-the-art operating rooms, advanced emergency services, a large rehabilitation gym, and an advanced radiology department with digital mammography, CT scan, MRI and a digital X-ray suite. Prowers Medical Center is a certified CMS Critical Access Hospital, and was named a Top 100 Critical Care Hospital in 2020. On October 18, 2007, President George W. Bush released Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21 (HSPD-21), calling on our nation, among other initiatives, to “collectively support and facilitate the establishment of a discipline of disaster health”. It is a great testament to the wisdom and foresight of the American Board of Physician Specialties that it immediately set to work and created, within the short span of only one year, an educational blueprint and set of certification examinations, both written and oral, for a new subspecialty of disaster medicine—and it is why I chose to be part this vital initiative and this wonderful organization. This is but one of the many innovative programs initiated by the American Board of Physician Specialties over the years, and why I am proud to support its work on behalf of our nation’s public health.

The American Board of Physician Specialties has provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of internal medicine through board certification. As a hospitalist, board certification is an expected credential, and hospitals recognize the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS) as one of the three standard credentialling bodies for Internal Medicine. Additionally, the ABPS has helped me develop leadership skills as a Board member and Committee Chairperson. ABPS has also helped me sharpen critical thinking skills as a test question developer and reviewer. The Allopathic (MD) and Osteopathic (DO) physicians in the ABPS are lifelong learners and frequently pursue multiple board certifications. I enjoy the camaraderie of my peers in ABPS.
