American Board of Integrative Medicine
Board certification from the American Board of Integrative Medicine® (ABOIM®) enables successful candidates to present themselves to the public as qualified medical specialists in the practice of Integrative Medicine. Completing the Integrative Medicine board certification indicates mastery of the specialty experience and knowledge as well as a professional commitment to adhere to the ABPS Medical Code of Ethics.
The ABOIM defines integrative medicine as the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.
The board certification process consists of submission of the completed application, Board review/approval to ensure all eligibility requirements have been satisfied and successful completion of a written examination. This examination is based on the Principals of Integrative Medicine and the Examination Description.
We anticipate accepting ABOIM applications starting in July 2013. Draft versions of the Eligibility Requirements and the Examination Description are available for review; however, please be aware that this information may be revised or modified prior to application acceptance. Final versions of this information, as well as the application, will be made available at that time.
